Each human ear canal has its shapes, sizes, lengths, and pointing directions, so the biggest problem with ready-to-use earplugs is that they are either too big or too small for many people's ear canals. Also, even after they are worn, they slowly loosen up. So, we developed the Soteria earplug to solve these problems and made a product that can accommodate different sizes, shapes, lengths, and ear canal orientations. So, please follow these simple steps to ensure you get the best wearing experience.
To get the best hearing protection from Soteria earplugs, you must carefully select and wear the most suitable silicone earcups to create a good seal between the earplugs and the ear canal.
Adjust The Length of The Earplug
Soteria offers silicone eartips in several sizes that will fit most ear canal sizes. In addition, the method described below allows you to fine-tune the length of the earplug to better fit different ear canal depths and provide you with better hearing protection.
A. First, pull the silicone eartips out from the body of the earplug by about 2mm.
B. Place the earplug at the ear canal entrance and slowly push the earplug into the ear canal until you feel that the silicone eartip has reached a tight fit with the ear canal. If your ear canal is more profound, the increased length of the earplug by pulling out the eartip will allow the triangular outer cap of the earplugs to rest against the inside of the anti-tragus, which will prevent the earplug from continuing to loosen outward and maintain a good seal.
If you have a short ear canal, then once you push the earplug in, it will quickly become airtight to the ear canal. Usually, smaller ear canals are also shallower, so continuing to push in will allow the earplug to return to its original length. The picture shows the ideal fit, with the triangular outer cap resting on the inside of the anti-tragus.
We understand that not everyone can achieve this goal. If the Soteria earplug still fits snugly in the ear canal and does not loosen easily, please continue to use it. However, if it does not fit snugly, you must consider using a custom-made earplug to protect your hearing.
C. The outside sound will reduce when the eartips make a good seal. However, if you push the earplugs as far as they go, the external sound remains the same. Then you must change the eartips to a larger size and start over. Conversely, if the eartips do not fit comfortably in the ear canal, replace them with a smaller size and start over.
Proper Earplugs Wearing Orientation
The Soteria was designed to allow more people to have proper hearing protection. However, over twenty years of experience making custom earplugs has taught us that while most people can comfortably wear Soteria earplugs, some people cannot wear them, as shown in the image.
The following instructions will help you correctly wear the Soteria earplugs in your ears.
A. Grasp the triangular body of the earplug with your fingers and rotate the earplug until one of the triangle sides fits snugly against the ear (as shown in the attached image).
B. Because every ear canal tilts and points differently, you need to adjust the earplugs' pointing and tilting angle to match the ear canal; then, you will get the best comfort and fit and achieve the best results.
