ACS Ear Impressions Guidelines & Requirements

If you recently have any surgeries done to your ears, you must have the doctor’s permission to make ear impressions.

Please ensure your ear impressions meet the following requirements:

  • Foam otoblocks are preferred (cotton otoblocks are also acceptable).

  • Closed-Mouth Ear Impressions are REQUIRED.

  • The silicone must extend past the second bend of the ear canal and include all canal details.

  • The impressions must capture the entire ear canal, concha, cymba, notch, helix, and antihelix with full, accurate shape.

  • Impressions must not have holes or pits larger than 2 mm.
Impressions with glossy or shiny patches—which indicate incomplete filling—will not be accepted.

  • We do not accept STL files created from direct 3D scans of the ear.
